Leading the Organization with Courage and Humility
Alignment with the principles of Continuous Improvement and Respect is the starting point. Leaders that model and teach the balance of courage and humility can build a culture of continuous improvement that shows the highest level of respect for people. Once organizations align their actions with these principles then excellence is the natural outcome.
Using individual, small group, and large group activities and discussions we will dig deep into the Principles and concepts that make Lean organizations thrive.
For example, we will examine how Go and See and PDCA are examples of how we may, or may not, practice “humility” in our organization. Genchi Genbutsu is the physical manifestation of Humility. I go and see so I can learn, I ask questions because I need to learn, I need to learn because I am humble.
This workshop has origins in my work at TMMK when leading the roll out of the internal “Toyota Way 2001” activity.
- The culture of continuous improvement and respect as the goal
- The balance of Courage, Humility and Kaizen allows the leaders and thus, the organization to build the culture of CI and Respect.
- How the Lean Transformation Model gives us a structure for building the culture of CI and Respect.
At the end of this workshop you should be able to:
- After sharing the understanding of the Lean Principles learned in the workshop with others in their organization the participants will be able to determine the gaps in their alignment with the Lean principles and in their alignment with the practices that are attached with each element.
