Core Services

  • Gemba Walk

This floor analysis provides instant feedback on the current business condition.  A Gemba Walk, along with a Lean Assessment, will help us understand the next steps to take on your Lean journey.

  • Leadership Awareness

Associates’ level of engagement will never exceed that of their leaders. Through guided Gemba Walks, coaching, and workshops, Honsha senseis help leaders understand Lean so they can better guide their team members in day-to-day work.

  • Lean Assessment

Conducting a focused evaluation of the organization allows Honsha senseis to analyze all dimensions of Lean readiness. We assess operational and technical levels parallel to managerial and leadership levels. Our outcome report presents the opportunities for alignment and their priorities, which allows organizations to save time and efforts in the early steps of their Lean journey.

  • Workshops and Training

Honsha instructors teach using methodology developed by Toyota Motors enhanced with their experiences outside of Toyota. Utilizing the Socratic approach, instructors lead teams into a deep understanding of the TPS/Lean techniques. Workshops are connected to current company needs and the learning is applied immediately on the floor. While learning will come from the simulations, exercises, and concepts taught in class, a valuable deep understanding will result from the guided application through the Gemba.

  • Lean Transformation

Dedicated Honsha senseis provide guidance and mentorship throughout the Lean Transformation process. Coaching from senseis adds the elements of discipline and compliance to standards applied during training. Honsha senseis work to design action plans, follow deadlines, and assist with the Plan, Do, Check, Act of project management.

  • Certification

Our mission is to develop capabilities within your organization so you are not dependent on an outside resource to multiply the results. Our certification methodology TWI/OJT ensures that an internal agent (assigned by the client) will be fully capable of disseminating the techniques and performing lateral implementation after Honsha teaches and helps implement strategies.

  • Lean Audit

Sustaining gains after implementing a Lean improvement is considered by many the most difficult part of the Lean journey.  If learning is difficult, un-learning ineffective habits can be even more so.  Our coaching process includes a structured operational audit early in the process. Periodically, a Honsha sensei analyzes how well the company has adhered to the system put in place so their Lean improvements continue to benefit the company. Honsha will only perform audits for clients who implement learned Lean concepts as part of a system of Lean tools.

Executive Development Missions – Japan

Way beyond my expectations

This quote is one of the typical accolades for the Honsha Japan Executive Development Mission (EDM).  The EDMs host executives from all around the world in sectors ranging from manufacturing, healthcare, service, and many others.  According to past years’ participants, the learning they absorb during the EDM is tremendous. Among the comments we receive are, “Absolutely a milestone in my professional career”, “One of the richest experiences of my life”, and “A dream that came true in a very real way”. We expect even more enthusiastic responses from each of the next missions.
